Julie M. Rivett is an advocate and trustee for Dashiell Hammett’s estate, a lecturer for NEA Big Read programs across the country, and an essayist and editor. Working with Hammett biographer Richard Layman, she has edited five books by or about her grandfather, including SELECTED LETTERS OF DASHIELL HAMMETT (Counterpoint, 2001) and THE HUNTER AND OTHER STORIES (Mysterious Press, 2013), and the upcoming THE CONTINENTAL OP: CASE FILES COMPLETE (MysteriousPress.com, 2016), the first comprehensive collection of Continental Op stories. Julie lives in Orange County, earned an M.A. in Communication Studies at CSULB, and serves on the board of the Long Beach Shakespeare Company.
