Brief plot description: Tucson defense attorney & his wife embark on an
investigation
that appears certain to fail.

now come to pass.

Winter 99

on
author's website.)
Setting: Desert Southwest; present.
Brief plot description: Introduces my almost private eye, Franklin Beamer.
Beamer tracks
his target into a border town bordello where he's in for
some unexpected
surprises.
Character notes: Although all 17 Beamer stories are first person, present
tense, about
all Beamer & I have in common is that we both flew B-52s.
Other notes: Beamer is a straight talker, which may not always be what
the
reader wants
to hear.
"Breathing"
Type of work: Short story, in Blue Murder Mystery Magazine #10,
October,
1999 (electronic)
(Story, plus author's illustrations and notes, can be read in its entirety
on
author's website.)
Setting: Most of the story takes place in a Burger King.
Brief plot description: Beamer's second published adventure. An old friend
hires him to
find out who is trying to stop him from breathing.
Other notes: This one, best described as a quick read, has received kudos
from
editors, published
authors, and writing instructors alike.
