CRAFTING THE SHORT STORY

Find a flair for fiction. With the growing number of e-zines and magazines, the short story market is alive and well. Learn how to break into the creative flow through "Crafting the Short Story." In this five-week online class, students will learn how to unleash their creative spirit, find their writing voice, create multi-dimensional characters and write believable dialogue with a final result of seeking publication.

After working for traditional newspapers, magazines and as an online journalist, Marie Loggia-Kee, M.A., knows the ins and outs of the publishing world. She
currently edits and writes for Zone News, a high-tech business magazine, and teaches college classes in creative writing, English, writing for the web and
multimedia design. In her "free" time, Loggia-Kee serves as Webgrrls Orange County pointgrrl and freelances cooking columns, automotive-related features and music reviews. Loggia-Kee is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime. As a fan and writer, Loggia-Kee enjoys the darker side of mysteries.

WRITING A NOVEL

Six-time published novelist and experienced writer and instructor teaches everything essential to writing a novel, including plot, character, scenes, dialogue, viewpoint, style, format, outlines, and synopses, covering all genres and with special insights into mystery and suspense. The instructor's new book on how to write a novel,
Novel Writing for Wanna-be's, is distributed to all students, and includes case studies and examples to enhance the writing and presentation of your novel. Student manuscripts are critiqued in class.
